In 1981, Atari designed a table top game system called Cosmos, which would never be produced. Few examples of the system (the world’s first consumer product with holograms) survived, and few examples of the hologram were left behind. This is one of only two original Cosmos holograms for this game to ever be found in quantity; few examples of any of the other 6 Cosmos games have surfaced. No others have come direct from actual Atari employees like myself! Once this batch is depleted, they will once again not be available for a while. My previous auctions were months ago! So act now and know you will get the best deal with the most authentic documentation included, from the original source. I own some of the holograms for the Cosmos game ASTEROIDS, which feature two different images, depending on what angle of illumination is provided. These are original 1981 prototype holograms, not duplicates from another source or later versions! IF YOU HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT ONE OF THESE ELSEWHERE, FOR 100’S OF DOLLARS, YOU GOT SCALPED! Please read the description below carefully – do not assume that this offering is for an actual Cosmos game system, because it is not. This sale is for a hologram that is used in the game cartridge used to play the game. The one photo shown of a Cosmos game system is FOR REFERENCE ONLY. Not an indication that it is included in the sale. The hologram images shown are contained in a mylar film which is illuminated by incandescent light, or the sun. Fluorescent light also works, but not as well. The film piece is about 6-1/2″ wide by 5″ high; the image imprint on the film is 5″ wide by 4″ high. It is identified as ” ASTEROIDS EG505″ and is mounted on a black card in a clear sleeve. The pictures shown barely do the hologram justice. Its bandwidth is so broad that when properly illuminated, the images appear to float in space! In addition to the hologram film, I will include an info sheet I created that tells more about the Cosmos story from inside Atari’s engineering department, a couple of color Cosmos console images, and some other related goodies that are either replicas of original Atari Cosmos-related items, or reference materials composed by me, based upon my perspective which includes four years working inside Atari’s engineering groups. Also included: copies of an official Atari Cosmos Press Release from 1981 and a B&W image of two boys playing a Cosmos! No other Cosmos auctions are as inclusive as what I offer for a fraction of any other price, and in the case of documentation or pictures, more precise or complete for information content, picture resolution or downright authenticity. For better display results, install the black card with the hologram in a lucite 5″ X 7″ picture holder (get the kind with a built-in “easel stand” on its back). Some Atari 2600 and 5200 promo items will be included in the package too! SUPPLIES ARE LIMITED & NOT OFFERED REGULARLY- ACT NOW!
